Mega in-demand afro funk single by The Rail Band from Mali. "Mouodilo" is one of the most infectious afro groove I've ever heard. Super funky rhythm added to the so catchy chorus and vocal, a guaranteed killer on the floor. As seen left for 700$ in the past on the evil bay. Surface noises despite the clean condition, due to poor Nigerian press.
Another winner! Monstruous Ethiopianesque afro twist on the hypnotic "Nanthan", check the female folk chorus over that massive syncopated rhythmic...sought after by the whole groove planet, this sound of the past is the sound of the future! Some light surface despite the clean condition, due to poor Malian press, superb copy!
CLEMENT MELOME & POLY RYTHMO – Nougbo Vehou / Ma Savo Home (Aux Ecoutes)
Deadly double sider! Aside is an insistent groove with hot keyboard play, while Bside is a monster afro twist with brillant guitar play. Another Cotonou winner!
EL REGO & SES COMMANDOS – Djobime / Do Do Baya (L.A.Aux Ecoutes)
Another sure shot from El Rego with the dancefloor ripper "Djobime". Great guitar solo and killer breakdown with phat drums, big warm bass and James Brown-like shoutings. "Do Do Baya" is a nice laid back groove as well.
CLEMENTOPHE / SUPER BORGOU / POLY RYTHMO – EP (EMEC)
Damn.. Probably the most insane and rare African record I digged. Consideering the total lack of infos about both the record AND the artist, I guess this is a super rare item, maybe impossible to find except in some dusty Benin warehouses... but here with the condition of a stock copy! A-side sounds like a raw radio freestyle over a SUPER BORGOU instrumental. Too bad the recording was made very poorly, cause this tune is a bomb! The guy is crying, shouting, slamming and freestyling over an implacable funky rhythm, you can hear the crazy organ and drums. On Bside, you have a killer tune backed by the famous POLY RYTHMO band. Once again you have the obscure singer Clementophe (maybe the Poly Rythmo leader Clement Melomé ??) doing his thing on the mic, and the crazy reverb intro and outro is a plus. No need to say more. You know it's impossible to find. Last track is a cool soul tune.
ESKILL LOHENTO & POLY RYTHMO – Wloui Bonu Houide / Akue We Non Houme (Aux Ecoutes)
With the killer groove on "Akue We Non Houme". Enthusiastic vocal performance and monstruous organ solo, a readymade bomb for your dancefloor. Chooooone!
ORCHESTRE PICOBY – Mi Hon Noun Gbeto / Ye Houe Dehou (L.A.Aux Ecoutes)
More deadly groovy from the Picoby crew. Bside got that wicked ass-shaker Ethiopic twist that will just turn your dancefloor upside down. I love when the singer begin to talk silly on the mic at the end of the track...killer!
