JEAN LABRE - Vol De Nuit (PSB)
I hesitated to put this one as a secret squirrel. This record simply stayed under the radar for so long. It was made by the Air France company (no, this is not an ESCALE PARTY LP with alternative cover) and is dedicated to Antoine De Saint Exupery. Musically, the whole LP is produced by JEF LEROUX (Tonio Rubio and Tony Bonfils are on bass) and is packed with killer breaks & loops, here you have a crazy HARLEM POP TROTTERS-like loop, there some dope DUSTY FINGER breaks sounding like the GATOR soundtrack or the RYTHMES TELEMUSIC LP. Listen some extracts HERE... and be quick!

V/A ARTISTS - Imaginations (Unidisc)
Another incredibly good school exercises LP. Between proto electro loops and crazy bugged out percussions, moogy melody and deadly piano stabs, the short tracks provided by MICHEL DELAPORTE or MARC CHANTERAU (two well known percussionists in the french jazz funk scene) are a sampling goldmine for the producers! Check the dark piano break of “Les Cloches”, “Manege” or the crazy percussive “Machines” HERE
Cover EX / vinyl EX-   15€

CLAUDE CIVELLI – La Flute A Bec (Festival)
At last! Here's a spare copy of this precious LP by Claude Civelli. Basically recorder flute over groovy rhythms. With the super phat breaks of "Lei Lelele Palace", just worth the price alone with numerous flute and beats breakdown. But also "Le Grand Calao", sounding like a Mr Scruff sample, "System 5 + 8", or the other hip hop possibilities in the intro of "Isohypses". RARE.
Cover EX / vinyl EX   60€

The return on our website of this essential De Roubaix score. The "proto hip hop" quote has been practically invented for this "Theme". Fabulous loop alike work on strings, tough beat... Bonus track is the disturbing "Les Maniaques". Be real and grab the OG 45 instead of the comped version!
Cover VG++ / vinyl VG++  45€

JEF LEROUX – Percussion System (Balance)
Seldom-seen LP led by Jef Leroux and Jean Claude Naude, between jazz, prog, pop... Very interesting use of diverse percussions sets over groovy fender rhodes melodies. Killer loops could be extracted from the whole LP, as the arrangement are very rich, reminding me sometimes the classic MICHEL COLOMBIER LP Capot Pointu . Listen to “Trois Minutes A Mach 2” , “Dans Les Griffes”, “C'est Rond C'est Petit”, “Carnage”, "Toute Ressemblance..", "Boum Boum", "Chanson D'Annie", or the incredible "Percussion's Music More

PIERRE PORTE – Bon Dimanche (Sonopress 1978 repress)
Funky orchestral pop at its best. Pierre Porte conducts his orchestra into the land of the best funky themes coming from France . Cinematic strings, brillant horns arrangement and funky rythmics: best examples are the huge musical landscape of “ It The End ” between Legrand Les Demoiselles … and Colombier Capot Pointu . “ Ganymede ” bring some dark strings and wah guitar, and the ethered female chorus really remind La Planete Sauvage or Les Gants Blancs Du Diable . Now quiet hard to locate!

ENSEMBLE DE PERCUSSION DE PARIS VINCENT GEMIGNANI – Pour Le Kama Sutra / Concordances (Concert Hall)
One of the record that clearly defined a main frenchattack motivation: showing that French 70s music is not just about Gainsbourg, yé yé music and wet dreams female singers! The intensity and creativity of this piece of concrete music, added to a strong sense of groove, created by Mister Gemignani, who invented his own percussive instruments (the Bronté , used on this record) and gave us one of the top LP coming from France during this era (Modern Pop Percussions), was always the right example of this main idea. But back to this LP. “Pour Le Kama Sutra”, created by Jacques Charpentier and performed by the Gemignani Ensemble, is a stunning journey into sound, highlighted by this enormous funky breakbeat that blessed two minutes of the record. Essential.

CRAZY ZHEUL WORDLESS JAZZ – ??? (???)
Obscure 89 LP by this French band, a sort of vocal group experimentations with some killer jazz funk moments or prog Zheul excursions. UNKNOWN JAZZ GROOVE BREAKS AND LOOPS – ??? (???)
The most insane discovery since a long time ! SECRET DEEP INDIAN JAZZ WITH MAD LOOPS – ??? (???)
Incredible eastern psych jazz LP that sounds like a dope retake of the Jazz Meets India LP on Saba, but with a more funky backbeat and some great psychedelic touches. V/A ARTISTS – Industrial Panorama (KPM)
This great KPM release is a must have for those of you who dig the John Barry sounds. His “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” period to be exact. KPM best soldiers (Keith Mansfield, Johnny Pearson...) bring us some very, very solid cinematic themes. “Danger Man” and “Energy Vibrations” would not be incongruous on a James Bond OST, and “Industrial Power”, “Man With A Mission” and “Jagged” are the dope Hanged Man/Return of Pellam sounds Keith Mansfield is able to perform. English orchestral groove as its best.
Cover EX / vinyl EX-  70€

V/A ARTISTS – Industry (Volume 1) (KPM 1161)
Another top reference if you’re after incredible loop and strange groove. So original, so fresh if you thing of the release year (1975). Check for example the mysterious space funk of “In Motion”, the wah wah rolling groove of “The Journey”, the super nice flute and fender keys of “The Open Road” and of course the devestating bass of “Pulp” already sampled by DJ Spinna. But we would put almost every tracks of the album for the MP3s!
Cover EX / Vinyl EX  50€

EDDIE DRIVER – A L’Orgue Hammond (Les Tréteaux)
