SECRET KILLER FOLK FUNK (???)
Totally unknown record (no infos on the web, no appearance on the French Folk Magic Guide) with incredible backing band that put funk, psych and groove behind the very typical folk-style voice of the singer, doing a very unusual psyché-jazz-folk mixture. This is hard to believe: listen the dope groovy sound of this record! Consideering the lack of infos and the release on a very confidential parisian label, there were probably only a few hundreds copies pressed. Rare folk people be fast!

CLAUDE CIVELLI – La Flute A Bec (Festival)
At last! Here's a spare copy of this precious LP by Claude Civelli. Basically recorder flute over groovy rhythms. With the super phat breaks of "Lei Lelele Palace", just worth the price alone with numerous flute and beats breakdown. But also "Le Grand Calao", sounding like a Mr Scruff sample, "System 5 + 8", or the other hip hop possibilities in the intro of "Isohypses". RARE.

BERNARD LAVILLIERS – Le Stephanois (Motors)
Great Lavilliers LP, his most famous in the rare groove circles, mostly because of the great production by KH SCHAFER (LES GANTS BLANCS DU DIABLE) that strongly reminds the JC VANNIER style during his Melody Nelson period. It means a great melt of funky bass/drums backing with strings arrangement. Listen to “La Verité” or “Les Aventures Extraordinaires D’un Billet De Banque” for a good example !

Rare second LP from 72 by Bernard Lavilliers. With a high quality crew around him as Georges ARVANITAS and Marc CHANTEREAU are part of the band, but this is KARL HEINZ SCHAFFER (Les Gants Blancs Du Diable OST) who brings the most, with brilliant modern productions, little skits intros and superb strings arrangements. Check the killer loops on “Les Poetes”, “Le Voleur”, “Fait Divers” or the brasilian groove of “Tendresse”!

	CATHERINE LARA – S/T (CBS) First album by this female singer who was known before as a violin player (she was in the Janco Nilovic orchestra during the Ryhtmes Contemporains session!). SECRET GORGEOUS FUNKY POP A LA MELODY NELSON (???)
Obscure pop folk LP that benefits of a stellar production assured by an all-stars cast: JEAN PIERRE SABAR on keyboards, JANNICK TOP on bass, FRANCOIS RABBATH on double bass, JEAN SCHULTHEIS on percussions and PIERRE DUTOUR on trumpet are all involved in this ambitious recording. Between orchestral pop / proto hip hop a la GAINSBOURG / MICHEL COLOMBIER or JC VANNIER, cosmic jazz a la CORTEX, tuned percussions, round funky bass, wah wah guitar… this is killer after killer tracks. I would be glad to have an instrumental version of this LP! Listen some extracts HERE.
