Incredible record by SERGE FRANKLIN on his own structure Soleil Masqué, one of my favourite label. Aside is a collection of tensed psychedelic cosmic jazz and euro funk, listen to "Orient Dream", "Un Violon En Enfer", "Flash", "Nightmare N°4", "Hell's Bell". Very dark and disturbing production, with lot of weird effects on sound.
Super cool vibe-led Quintet jazz with some fine moment of groove. Listen to "Golden Flash", "Magic Cascade", "Tracer Bullet" or the bossa jazz "Blue Rocket".
A couple of cool jerk on first side, but Bside wins again! With "Snow Ball", the JC PIERRIC prod "Silver Sledge" but most definitly the killer bongo jazz beat of "Passage".
One of my favourite MPI! From the superb 60's jazz music to the incredible cover art by the genius Robert Hilton. I'm usually not a big fan of Piano solo, but "Rotative" with Solal alone is a stand out on the LP. With also "Cinema Break" and "Fievre De Cheval". Sticker mark and one long crease on front.
Another major MPI release! Daniel Janin in top form with numerous funky big band like "The Flying Soprano", "Chahut Bohut" (with Pierric on electric piano? that solo is brillant), "Ici Et Là", "Strong Strings", "Ice Cool", "Piano Free Vole"... In the Top5 of the label! Some very light backing noises here and there.
Brillant cosmic synth LP by Patrick Vasori. With the enthusiasting "Trucks Raid", or "Granit" for a dark cinematic mood between disco beat a la Arpadys and De Roubaix weird atmosphere.
More insane cosmic sounds from the two French specialists."Vacances Pulsions Part1", "Planete Rush" (check that insane aquatic sound!), "De L'Attente A L'Extase" (loops!), or "Vacances Pulsions Part.2".
"Female Chorus"! Fabulous electroide cosmic boogie tune ready to slay your dancefloor for good! With also "Fidji" and "Funky Machine". It's strange how this guy understood, way back in the 80s, how an electronic club track should sound and be structured in the 21th century!
Ultra rare library LP with numerous killer joints. "Kenacontaquine", "Micro Magnon", "Baby Kif Blues", "Treti", "Sinadrogue", "Shocking", "Attends Bourin" or the incredible post modern bongo led "Su Hat Ki"!
Split down edge.
Studio One is inviting you for a world trip. Exotica and fuzz beat with the always cool "Trip To Marakesh", "Moon Drops", "Apollo 20" or "Holiday In Tunisia".
A very good patchwork of sound on this very strong release by Cecil Wary. Let's start with “European's Confrontation” a very beaty track a la Arel/Dutour on Chappell. The stand-out track here is the massive “Fugue To Cuba”, with delirious percussions intro and harpsicord a la Ipcress File, a one of the B-Boys! And it goes nicely for the beatheadz till' the end of the wax with the drama De Roubaix sound of “Graves Of Orient” or the dope flute loop of “Incas' Woods”. Highly recommended.
F. MONKMAN / M. IRONTON / P. KELLY – Contemporary Impact (KPM)
One of the first 1200 serie release, with the appearance of the synth sound in the KPM label. Check "Dangerous Game", the italo disco "Starfighter", "Spider Walk", "Impetus", the killer "Tough Schedule", or the Pink Floyed-esque "New Damn"!
