Another sure shot by Nilovic, but less known that his Impression serie. With the great dancefloor cheesy samba "Samba Amigo", the phat "Machine Gun", the B-Boy break intro of "Gipsy Rock", "Super America", "Metropolis", "Trumpet Superstar", and some great intros ready to be slayed by your sampler!
Super rare Guy Boyer LP with the monstruous "Aventure Et Tambourin", a real favourite of mine. With also the bizarre groove of "Bateaux, Brume et Brouillard", "Samba Pas Comme Les Autres", "In The Moog", "Du Suspense encore du suspense", "Ca Rapelle La Flute Indienne".
Massive synth business. Check the Horror movie cosmic sounds of this rather unknown LP. With the monster eponym track "Pulses", that loop is SO FRESH, "traction", "Bullet", "Heavy Mover", or "Rotary Engine".
Listen to the dope mellow groove of "Destiny", something on it reminds me a lot the arrangement in Gainsbourg "L'Homme A La Tete De Chou". With also the funky "Tenth Time", the phat rhythm of "Rangefinder", "Stuck In The Groove" and a bunch of very nice disco funk cuts with "Only 16's", "Speed Freak", "Main Theme", "Wings", and "Down To D"... solid!
Brillant proto electro moog session. Very intense pieces between atmospheric mood and punchy Ed-Woodesque soundtrack feeling. Listen to the deep "Train Experimental", "Les Canaux De Mars", "Polymorphoses", "Musique De L'Infini", "A L'Aube De L'An 2000", "Esoteria", "Altitude 1", or "Frontieres De L'Inconnu". One of the best moog LP I've heard so far!
RAY DAVIES / JOHN FIDDY – Contemporary Themes (KPM)
KPM goes disco! Killer late funk mood on this release, with of course the professionalism of the label, so don't expect too much cheesiness. With the massively funky "LA Express" and "Making It". The almost Moroder-esque "The Risk Business", the dope moogy "Pulsator" and a bunch of irresistible disco funk burners like "The Big Event", "Power Play" or "Interstate Five"!
I can't resist to write here the liner notes of the record, wrote by Ron Geesin himself: "I present some tunes, untunes, anti-tunes, delightful and undelightful sounds for all sorts of purposes and state that: The pieces herein displayed may be combined with themselves (as much out of sync as possible) to achieve thicker diffuse atmosphere, and playing things at different speeds would not be wrong!"... Nuff said!
Whooo, "Stuck In" and its syncopated funky rhythm is the definition of ill right?? the perfect big beat track. With also "Electric Blue", "Funky Driver" and "Cuttin The Funk"!
HERBIE FLOWERS / BARRY MORGAN – Bass Guitar And Percussion Vol1 (KPM)
One of the best from the mythical catalogue! The title says it all, you can't go more minimalistic and tough than that. Breaks and beats plus huge bassline for days. Water damage on cover. Some light background noises.
One of my favourite KPM of the moment. Just killer after killer tracks on the whole record. Mike is just on point with the moog and other different weird keyboards, setting the mood over super phat and funky background. "Time Trial", "Power Game", "Superman", "Power Surge", "Night Shift", "Undercurrent", "Tour Of Industry", "Jet Set"... your sampler will beg for mercy!
KPM finest workers again. Brian Bennett with the classy easy groove "Fresh Appeal" and "Shop Around", Dave Richmond with the killer hard beat mover "The Concrete Jungle", Clive Hicks with the loopable action of "Waking Up" or the wicked dancefloor burner "On The Wild Side"!
