THE STEVE EVANS TRIO - Imperial Hotel EP (Private)
Obscure Torquay Hotel band that released that private press EP, with the killer hammond pop jazz track "The Jocker" featuring the swinging voice of Angela Christian. Impossible to find.
First album by this female singer who was known before as a violin player (she was in the Janco Nilovic orchestra during the Ryhtmes Contemporains session!). Dark mood, strings, ethered voices and some cool skits and beats to grab here and there. Listen to “Ce Nétait que du temps perdu”.
Damn.. this record slept in my crates for so long. Until I realize “I Love You” got that insane bass and drums intro and that killer breakbeat somewhere in the track. On Bside “Isle Of Paradise” is a great funky Hammond tune.
JEAN MUSY - Tribute To Ray Charles (Concert Hall )
Super nice hammond cover of famous Ray Charles tunes. Including the great re-takes of “Halleluja I Love Her So”, “I've Got A Woman”, “Sticks and Stones” or “You Are My Sunshine”!
STRUCTURE POP MUSIC - Dilatation / Escale (Donali)
Ultra rare single by BERNARD WYSTRAETE. Both tracks are not featured in his famous Structure Pop Music LP. Check the deadly flute groove of "Dilatation", for me the best one under his pseudo .
Phat jerk with very solid horns and that furiously groovy bassline. This track is a monster! Promotionnal record with inner booklet, the composer remains obscure on this one. Rare!
Great UK advertising flexi disc record sounding like DANCE THE SLURP, popularized by DJ SHADOW and CUT CHEMIST. Killer hammond jerk with that guy shouting "C'mon kids: do the crunch!". Guaranteed effect on any 60's dancefloor!
